Name: Dwarf
Lifespan: 100-200
********
Appearance: Dwarves are the shortest race of Man, between about three and five feet tall. Though their bodies may be small, they are packed with muscles and should not be pushed around. Dwarves are most often described as miniature Humans, since the two races share most of their physical appearance, but tell that to a Dwarf and you might find a shovel in your eye.
Traits: Dwarves tend to be short and wide. Their bodies are compact and they are usually very muscular as well. The females are roughly the same height as the males, but their muscle is less defined. Regardless, they are still just as strong and do not like to be made fun of.
Abilities: Dwarves are most in tune with the earth where they can sense vibrations in the ground that help them track subterranean waterways as well as locate precious minerals found beneath the ground. They also have a better sense of night vision as they've spent much of their history in caves and mines. What Dwarves are most famous for is crafting and working with tools. Though Wizards are generally seen as the technological geniuses of Azoria, the Dwarves are the ones who invent many of the necessities and gadgets used most widely throughout the world.
Source of Magic: Because of the shattered ties and major conflicts with Elves, Dwarves passed up the ability to use magic long ago. Though, now, some Dwarves have been known to possess magical traits. These Dwarves are extremely rare, but they do exist. For the most part in this day and age, magical Dwarves are treated as though they have some type of disease. Because of this, they usually hide their abilities and practice in secret.
********
Religion: Dwarves, instead of worshiping any immortal, intangible God, celebrate their Living Legends. Dwarves believe that if one works hard enough at their particular craft, they can obtain Godhood in their mortal life. Because of this, Dwarves spend much of their time perfecting whatever it is they do best in hopes of reaching this fabled Godhood. Warriors, because of their popularity, tend to be worshiped more than others, however, the Dwarves also praise and follow the good word of their scholars and inventors as well. Godhood is not an easy title to obtain and takes almost a lifetime, but once gained, one feels immortal.
History: Dwarves, like the many races of Man, were first born during the First Age. Since then they have had terrible disputes with both Humans, and Elves, who they were once allied with. Since civil dispute with the Elves, they have grown to hate their once more valued ally. Because of this hatred, they've crafted their lives to be the exact polar opposite of Elves. Presently, the Dwarves have been responsible for incredible advancements in modern technology by harnessing the power of Steam and Grunge to begin a very early Era of Steampunk.
