It was a sad fact that the rebellion was losing ground in their own territory. Picking a fight with the Egaian Empire, one of Azoria's super powers, was not something to take lightly. The war hadn't even started yet, and already, the rebellion was under heavy pressure from their opposition. Imperials police every boarder, every city, every town. They were all just waiting for the rebels to slip up. It was like constantly having a knife to your throat never knowing when the cold steel would cut in to you. On top of that, there has been a terrible increase in the Undead arising all over Egaia, and possibly even Piscyrus. Between fighting men and monsters during the day, the rebels have truly had their hands full with the hordes of undead that now rule the night. Fortunately, it seems the undead have slowed down this impending war to a crawl. They might just be a godsend.
Ironic.
Still, with little manpower to spare, the underground sewer system has been left painfully unattended for some time now. Unfortunately, the monsters have been moving back in to claim territory for themselves, leaving the tunnels more treacherous than usual. The underground is a key point for the rebellion when it comes to transporting rations and manpower. If the sewers are lost, it would take far more effort that they can spare to reclaim them. The word has gone out for any and all supporters of the rebellion to take up arms and help clear the sewers. There are many subterranean passageways and hidden corridors now filled with monsters. It would be impossible to clear them all out at once, so the rebellion has decided to periodically knock out larger infestations one at a time.
The guard captain stood at the entrance of the sewer system adorned in full iron armor and chain mail undercoat. His helmet was held in one hand by his side, allowing his middle-aged eyes to keenly scan the damp tunnels he once walked without a care in the world. Torchlight illuminated the tunnels. Moisture from the walls dripped to the wet floors and echoed throughout the subterranean landscape. The guard turned away from the tunnels for a moment and looked in the direction of the Underground City.
There was a majestic glow of blue illuminating the otherwise dark caverns. Deep blue fungal plants sprouted from the ground and walls of the earth, shining their light throughout the area. He could see the city in the distance: clay buildings populating their central cavern surrounded by large boulders and towering stalagmites serve as a natural defense. The guard was awaiting two individuals who were prepared to delve into the sewers and help clear them out. The mission would be dangerous, but hopefully these two would be capable of handing such a task.

It was not often Torrin got a chance to work with the Rebel Alliance with the many duties he had to attend to as a peacekeeper as well as a ranger. The elf did try and take part whenever he could, but he usually had more important duties, especially now that he was promoted to a captain among the peacekeepers.
The Rebel Alliance fought against the Egaian Empire, one of Azoria's strongest nations. Torrin, as a peacekeeper sought to change this. The Egaian Empire's power, if gone unchecked could get out of hand, and Torrin's main priority was balance among Azoria. Helping Rhondael seceded from Egaia would be a good first step. For this reason, the peacekeeper's chapter of Sylavea supported the rebels, but it was not mandatory to join the rebellion, although greatly encouraged.
The mission Torrin was assigned to this time was a more tedious task. Mostly he expected a simple mission of clearing out the tunnels of creatures that were more of a nuisance than anything to the elf, with the occasional actual monster added to the mix. The creatures were aggressive however, and if caught unaware in the dark tunnels by any of the creatures, they could certainly do damage. This mostly applied to the human members of the rebellion in Torrin's mind however, no elf could be caught off guard by the things. Torrin smirked slightly at this thought, humans always seemed to be in a rush, they never seemed to stop to smell the roses, or in this case, watch and listen for the monster that is creeping up on them as they hurry to their destination.
Once Torrin had entered the dark tunnels leading into the underground city, he had taken off his cloak, folding it neatly into his pack. In the tight tunnels it would be too unruly, and he didn't want it to get caught on anything. Now, he only wore his light armor of leather, with some metal plates in a scaled like pattern. He found this to offer him the most protection and maneuverability, and it's comfort was just a plus. The dark green tunic he wore over his armor helped to conceal the scaled metal as to not let it glint in the light - the camouflage qualities of the dark green would not help much in the tunnels however.
The elf was the first to reach the rendezvous point at the entrance to the sewer tunnels, quietly approaching to stand beside the guard and peer into the dark tunnel as well. "Greetings, you can call me Torrin," the elf said smoothly after a few moments of scanning the dark tunnels ahead, he waited for a reply before continuing, "Are we expecting anyone else?"

War of Survival
"People always rule their lives by what they see as 'Righteous' and 'True.' They lead war in their wake and that is what they call reality. However 'Righteousness' and 'True' are nothing, but vague terms and thus there reality could turn out to be nothing, but a illusion. Everyone leads by there assumptions. That is why reasons exist for those that need reasons to rely on them. " - Solomon 'De Vincentis; Chapter 2 of Humanity's Illusion Solomon truly hated both the Rebellion and the Empire of Egaia. He hated the rebellion, because there can be no perfect kingdom. One in which a farmer can be a king and a jestor can be a prince. It simply made the rebellion so 'cliche to every person that wanted to try and try again even though there blade was dulled and there ambition stale. Solomon thought that the average kingdom admired perfection and seeks to obtain it.The Empire of Egaia sought perfection through power, but what is the point in achieving such a dubious task. There is none. None at all. If something is perfect then there is nothing left. No imagination, No way to gain additional knowledge or skills and through their conquest Egaia threw away people they simply deemed unnecessary.
"When did you all forsake yourselves?"Solomon walked slowly into the dark tunnels the stench of the encumbered sewers touching his nose as he inhaled the sweet essence of his tobacco-pipe. He adored the darkness it was filled with nothing which made it all the more beautiful. There was no hate, no crime, no poverty only Solomon and no one truly could judge him in the darkness for in the sun your true form always shows itself. His footsteps became louder and louder as he approached the entrance to the rendezvous point. He entered and looked towards the elf and nodded his head bestowing upon the elf a joyful smile/ "I believe I will be the last one."Solomon didn't wield any fancy scale armor or silver sword. He only achieved to wear simple leather attire with a hood to cover much of his face and his trusty blade in which in he carried upon his back. HIs glance turned to the guard captain and bowed graciously, "Sorry for my tardiness. Shall we begin?"

The first to arrive was a young-looking male Elf. It was a comforting sight to see the long-ears. Since the Rebellion moved southward towards Rhondael, the Elves have proved to be a strong ally. It was the Elves that taught the Rebels many tricks to surviving in the wilderness as well as the secret natural passageways that one can use to travel undetected through the lands. Naturally, the Elves withheld some of their secrets, but what they've given so far, besides the extra man-power, was more than appreciated. This one in particular looked fairly fit and appropriately dressed for combat in the narrow tunnels. It was then that the guard recognized this Elf as one whose frequented the Rebel barracks. He himself must have been part of the Rebellion. Many Elves have enlisted, fearing that the ever-expanding Empire might threaten their forests. The Egaian Empire has always controlled a great deal of the continent, but have recently required far more resources to conflicts arising from the sister continent, Piscyrus. It wasn't always certain if the two super-powers would erupt in war, but covert skirmishes have become far more frequent as of late, and these stealthy operations require much material: Material that happens to come from the very forests the Elves call home. For that reason, the Elves have decided that ending this conflict would be in their best interest. The Elf greeted the guard and referred to himself as Torrin and asked if they were awaiting one more. "Yes, actually." The guard remarked with a nod before looking over the Elf's shoulder to see another figure approaching. "And I believe that would be him."Soon after the Elf approached yet another man; this one also proving to be temptingly mysterious. Unlike the Elf, Torrin, this man was not a familiar face around the Underground. He looked more like a rogue or a solo adventurer. The guard had to smirk a bit at the thought of others outside the rebellion answering their call for help. It was another ironic twist: The who the Rebellion swore to protect were now being called upon to protect the Rebellion. The man apologized for being tardy, but the guard shook his head and smiled. "Its fine, and yes. Allow me to brief you both on the parameters of this mission."Reaching into his pack, he pulled out two folded maps, which he gave to the two quest-takers. "These are the maps to this section of the Sewers as well as which cells you will be clearing out today." If the maps were to be opened, they would show the outlines of the wide caverns and passageways that lead deeper into the underground mazes. It was obvious that this was not a complete map. Some areas were completely missing all together. It was nothing more than a basic outline of the areas they would be travelling to. The dangerous areas were marked with crossed swords, indicating where they would definitely run into monsters, and the main cell of infestation was colored a bright red. "Now you'll mostly be running into the normal sewer life: Giant Rats, maybe a big spider or two, but those shouldn't be a problem. What you wanna watch out for are the Croc Warriors. They're a race of sword and shield-wielding Crocmen that generally hunt in groups of three, so you'll want to keep your formation tight when you're getting closer to the infestation point. Also, in the main cell, here, you'll find their Chieftain. One you defeat that monster, the rest should scatter and the infestation will dissipate. Normally these creatures wouldn't be too much of a problem for a warrior to handle, but because there's so many of them that is why you two will need to work together." He nodded, and then stepped aside to allow them entry to the tunnels. "If you have any further questions, ask now. Other than that, I wish you luck." He raised a fist to his heart and proudly spoke, "From Failure Comes Wisdom. From Unity Comes Strength."
The underground Sewer System was an extensive natural waterway that has been re-crafted and tailored so that underground travel throughout Egaia could be possible. Many rogues, assassins, and criminals use their underground passageways to move unseen throughout the continent, but this treacherous maze is no walk in the park. Being a natural system, these passageways are filled with native monsters that nest here. It is rare that anyone get too far without the need to defend themselves from the many beasts that call the underground their home. The tunnels were illuminated mostly by torchlight, however, there are some parts of the darkness where the glowing fungal mushrooms naturally thrive and light the way. Depending on where one stands, the tunnels echo with the sound of water rushing through nearby tunnels, above or below. Most of the sluice gates are controlled manually to make sure that no tunnels flood or overflow. The channels are actively emptied periodically and normally run through the lower trenches of the sewer tunnels. So long as these channels are not flooded, the water generally stays within the lower channels and rarely over-flood the tunnel walkways. From where the two quest-takers would enter, the tunnels would be almost completely dry. There was a drainage scheduled for some time in the near future, but they would be well-aware of this and previously advised to avoid the lower-tracks.
