Recruitment Process: The Rebellion is always taking on new volunteers for all types of positions; each requiring their own individual recruitment process. The standard process consists of candidates actually finding the Rebel Underground and signing up for the Alliance. Once they are enlisted, recruits take a blood oath to protect the lives of every man, woman, and child who wish for a Democratic government. If candidates wish to join any combat-oriented section of The Alliance, they must first go through a physical screening. This consists of an endurance test, and afterwards, a survival test: all of which are conducted whilst in the Sewer Systems, which allow candidates to become familiar with their surroundings.
Once the screening is complete, all candidates who meet the minimum requirements are sorted into their respective sectors as recruits, where they begin further basic training to hone their skills. Being founded by former Imperials, the two factions share many training methods. Rebel soldiers are first taught how to fight exactly how Imperials fight. Then, they are taught how to win.
Home Base: The Rebel Underground beneath Olmana.
History: The Rebel Alliance was not a planned faction. No one woke one bright Sunday morning and decided they would overthrow The Empire. Their story began when an Imperial Citizen was sentenced to execution after slaying his fellow man. This was not in cold blood, however. In his culture, a warrior's death is a high honor, and so he killed the man who was already on the brink of death. Being a totalitarian government, The Egaian Empire did not recognize this citizen's Religion. In their eyes, murder was murder, and so the cogs began to turn.
Many civil disputes quickly followed. "Why can't I follow my own Religion? Why must I bow down to your beliefs? Why must I be held to a lower standard because my God is different from your God?" What started as peaceful rallies soon became violent demonstrations. Protesters were beaten and dragged through the city streets. Racial and Religious tension flamed uncontrollably and burned through many sectors of the once united Empire. Eventually, Rhondael became the central point for all those who wanted to change The Empire would gather. They fought politically for a Democratic Union instead of a Totalitarian Empire, but they were stone-walled. Nothing would sway the Ruling Emperor of the time.
At first, while the arguing and bickering over policy took place, there was also a covert civil war underway. Those who wanted to free the people from the Imperial's iron grip came forth and did their best to sabotage The Empire. At the same time, Shadow Assassins and Hunter Shinobi, aided by the cloak of darkness, would deal with those who dare spread propaganda through The Empire. And then, it happened.
Nobody knows which side attacked first, but a seemingly peaceful rally turned terribly violent when Imperial Enforcers came to break up the crowd. Before anyone knew what was going on, arrows were flying and swords were clashing. It was a bloody and gruesome battle where Imperial Soldiers fought against their own citizens in an all-out battle on the streets of the Imperial Capitol.
After that terrible civil uprising, the Rebellion was quickly pieced together. Old, retired Imperial Soldiers sided with the idea of Diplomacy and Religious Freedom offered their experience and expertise. The vast wealth of goods and supplies the Egaian Empire held seemed to be divided equally between the two factions. With an actual fighting force, Rhondael took its first steps in completely separating itself from The Empire.
This was no easy task, and the leaders of this operation met heavy resistance. It was during this time that the largest collection of rebels surfaced and fought valiantly against The Empire. However, their hopes of assassinating the ruling Emperor were thwarted easily. The Empire was growing in strength more quickly than the rebels anticipated, and this strength was demonstrated when Imperials raided Olmana one Winter morning. The battle was long, but ended in an Imperial victory. The Egaian Empire captured not only the leader of the rebellion at that time, but also his wife, and nearly 50 of the bravest soldiers the Rebellion ever produce. On top of that, the leader's newborn son was also abducted and never seen again.
Since that time nineteen years ago, the Rebellion has suffered a terrible blow to their morale and have become divided among themselves. One side of the rebellion holds true to their former leader's orders and work tirelessly to train the next generation of warriors and win this coming war. The other side believes there is no victory to be won so long as their strongest comrades remained locked away on the Imperial Prison Island, and they have spent much of their resources on putting together a retaliation force that will overtake the Island so that they can liberate their brethren.
