“Dragons do not breathe fire.
They shout with the full fury and rage of their slaughtered kin.”
Tzu’Sun
Dracomacer of the Clawgre
Dragons rose from the twisted and mangled corpses of the slain animals of the world to seek vengeance upon Man. The dragons, with breath of rage and wings of fury, took to the battlefields and slaughtered the warring races of Man. Dwarves were chased to their mountains, the Elves to their forests and the Humans were brought to their knees. The Dragons had ended the conflict, but the war had left their home terribly scarred, so the dragons quickly went to work.
The Dragons fed from the life forces of the world: the forces of the Gods, and recycled them back into the mountains, the seas, the forests, and the air. As time progressed, the Dragons soon began to evolve, and so too did the spiritual energies that they recycled into the world. Soon, these energies began to mutate and change; ultimately forming what we today consider Magic.
The Dragons created magic and gave it to the world. They used these mystical powers to heal the scarred world and reshape it, so that peace could again return.
Drac’Tiini took to the oceans and raised the sea from its deep depths. Drac’Tiini caused the massive flood that split the world in half; separating the warring races of Man from one-another.
Faufneer breathed fire and rage from deep within the world’s center and brought forth lava from its core. Faufneer healed the fractured and scarred world with burning ointment that soon soothed the land's deep wounds.
Grou’Kage rattled and shook the plains violently. Grou’Kage created massive mountain ranges that the Orcs would use for their hunting territory, and deep faults, which would be the visible territorial boundaries for the races of Man.
Aerogaia carried the seeds of life and nature throughout the territories so that green grass and plentiful wheat would be abundant for all races. Aerogaia carried water from the oceans to the two continents and rained with the waters of life upon them.
The four Elemental God Dragons worked tirelessly until the world they inhabited was perfection. The creatures they served were happy. The creatures they served were safe. The races of Man were separated, but cared for just as much.
The Elves of Old, despising the terrible wars of the past, broke away from their faith in Zasmalsa and took a new allegiance with the Dragons. They prayed to their new gods and thanked them endlessly for their service.
Pleased by this display of affection, the Dragons wished to gift the Elves as a sign of appreciation, so they turned to their leader.
This being, this one truly omnipotent creature, whose name is so magnificent, mortal tongue would bleed upon attempting to utter it. This mighty spirit goes by many names. It is known as The Beginning, The Omnipotent, The Apex, The Ultima. This mighty being, who controlled the Four Elements of Dragon and the power of the Three Brothers, is known as the link between Man and Dragon. This being is most commonly referred to as Ultima: The Great God Dragon.
Creating a source of power that Man could harness, The Great God Dragon gifted the Elves with the most purest of magic on the condition that they must, without question, live, serve, and protect the natural world as the Dragons wished. Without question, the magical Elves agreed to live as one with the land and watch over the many creatures of their territory.
Jealous of the Elves and their new gift, the other races of Man demanded they too receive magic from the Dragons. All excluding the Dwarves, however: they wanted nothing to do with Elves or the creatures they worshipped. They stayed out of it. Man threatened to band together and take the magic away from the Elves unless gifted with magic of their own.
With their wings tied behind their backs, the Dragons agreed and, in order to protect their new servants, they created what are known as Runic Temples. These temples would act as a direct feed for the Dragon’s magic to enter the world. By accessing these Temples, Man would be able to enchant blank Runic Stones with the converted magical energy feeding into the world.
Fearing that Magic would be abused and eventually, become uncontrollable, the Dragons used Zasmalsa’s Power of Creation to give birth to what are known as Behemoths. Behemoths were the servants of the God Dragons and the eternal link between Man and Dragons. Behemoths were ultimately powerful creatures who were the pure embodiment of all Dragon Elements as well as the spiritual power of the Three Brothers. They were extremely obedient as well, and most commonly served as Guardians of magic and emissaries to all creatures that used the mystic arts.
Of course Man, possessed with greed and a lust for control, created their own Runic Temples. They feared the powerful Behemoths who guarded the Dragon Temples, so they made new elemental temples, and eventually new magical elements altogether. With Dragons and Behemoths no longer in their way, Man’s greed grew rapidly and, eventually became uncontrollable.
They fought over control of these new temples, as well as territory that possessed raw Runic Ore. Eventually, war exploded across the lands and consumed the world, once again, in violence and bloodshed. The Datta no Mahou swept through like wildfire, consuming all the races of Man who desired the power of magic.
The Dragons, instead of directly intervening, stationed their Godly servants, the Behemoths in Elvish territories and protected them from the influence of this terrible war. The Behemoths also made sure that this war only involved the races of Man and protected the native magical creatures of the world from this foolish battle. The dragons realized that Man’s greed burned like a wild forest fire, and the best way to deal with it, was to let it burn itself out. So the Dragons watched over the war, awaiting for Man to ultimately drive itself to extinction.
